Learn More about Oregon

A coastal state in the American West, Oregon is divided by a natural boundary formed by the Cascade Range of volcanic mountains. Seven regions with strong identities: 1. The West Coast, characterized by its famous Cannon Beach where the explorers Lewis & Clark arrived, but also by its nine magnificent lighthouses. You can visit charming seaside towns such as Florence or Newport, without forgetting its whale migration observation points. 2. Surrounded by mountains, rivers and vineyards, Portland, the economic capital, is both a highly industrialized city and a sporting and cultural city. It offers a variety of museums, festivals and charming stores. "Powells is known throughout the United States as one of its largest bookstores. 3. One hour northeast of Portland is Mount Hood and the Columbia River, a mountainous region where mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, rock climbing and camping are all popular. 4. The Willamette Valley is the heart of Oregon's agriculture and wine industry. In the spring and summer, small farmers' markets spring up throughout the valley. The valley is also famous for its vineyards and its famous Pinot Noir vines. 5. The southern part of the state is very popular during the summer and offers a wide variety of sporting and cultural activities: fishing, rafting, kayaking, and hiking. Caving is the specialty of the South because of its preserved caves, considered as real historical monuments. The region also has one of the most beautiful American parks, Crater Lake National Park. 6. The center is the driest region in the state. There are about 300 days of sunshine per year, which makes it a paradise for sportsmen, winter and summer. Between the desert and the mountains, there is a wide choice of individual sports (mountain biking, fishing, hiking) or team sports (kayaking, rafting). 7. Eastern Oregon, considered the "Wild West", was once occupied by four Native American tribes. Throughout the summer, rodeos and powwows draw crowds. It is by definition the region of the ranches.
